Mind Blowing Bridges of Asia #4: Da Nang Dragon Bridge, Vietnam

Talk about a fire-breathing, water-spouting dragon bridge! Opened in March 2013 over the River Han in Vietnam’s central coast city of Da Nang, the Rong Cao (Dragon Bridge) is 666m-long, 37.5m wide and has six lanes for traffic.

The Da Nang Dragon Bridge cost nearly VND 1.5 trillion dong (US$88m) to build and is an award-winning, US-designed marvel of engineering that’s become the pride and joy of residents, and the country and a favourite of visitors.  Every Saturday and Sunday at 9pm, the steely marvel performs a pyrotechnic show aided by some 2,500 LED lights that line the entire span of the bridge.
