In fact lets face, all Malaysians are celebrating this big festival in more ways than one like going back to our hometowns and spending quality time with our loved ones which in some cases we dont have the time to see all year, yes?. Here goes….
I have chosen some of the most well known Raya songs..and its all too clear to me and hopefully to you all that we really have some wonderfuly melodies that have stood the test of time….and its always a joy to play them on the piano.
Now I am going to end this entertainment article with a wonderfully beautiful composition by the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee which if played with the right mood, the right style and nuance, can bring a tear to your eye…which it does sometimes when I play it. Its very touching.
I do hope you like my redition of this classic. P. Ramlee is indeed Malaysia and he and his late wife Puan Sri Saloma are true legends and no one can ever replace them and what they have contributed to this country of ours…they are a true reflection of what Malaysia is all about, unity, friendship and harmony and during the Hari Raya celebrations it is when all Malaysians no matter race or religion, come together as ONE and visit each other to celebrate one of the biggest religious festivals which happens every year without fail.
I find this song also suitable for Raya...as its a love song….no matter who we are, where we are and with whom we are with…..lets take the time to reflect on what this year has shown to us, through thick and thin, Hari Raya that remains a deep rooted tradition that as I said remains very Malaysian.
This is a Malaysian tradition, lets keep it.
And as I would say in closing….
” May this season of forgiveness bring an abiding peace to fill your heart and home “
Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir Dan Batin. May you always be safe and blessed.”
