Bizarre Bugs ─ Pretty but Creepy No: #6: Golden Tortoise Beetle

Doesn’t it look like a tortoise? The golden tortoise beetle is a species of beetle in the leaf beetle family and it is native to the Americas. The beetle eats bindweeds, morning glories, and sweet potato. It is variable in colour from reddish-brown with black spots through gold, and it is often metallic, earning it the nickname, “the goldbug.”
